Even in today's world of computer technology, with endless type fonts at our fingertips and desk-top printers to hand, there is still the need for the traditional skills of a calligrapher to produce handwritten works of art in many aspects of everyday life. Calligrapher in South Wales - About Me

At my home situated in the beautiful Wye Valley, on the borders of Wales and England, I produce calligraphy and artwork for both private and corporate individuals.

My love of the 'written hand' developed early in childhood when I was given my first Osmiroid Italic Handwriting Set! However, after training and embarking on a career as a cartographer in 1973, it was some 14 years later before I eventually pursued my passion for calligraphy, taking evening classes for 2 years when my three daughters were little, and looking for a home-based career I could fit around them. I have now accumulated nearly 25 years of experience in the art of calligraphy and illumination producing both traditional and contemporary pieces.

I produce work to commission (please see products & services for information) and also original pieces and prints that can be purchased from this site (see shop) or from my studio. Please also visit my gallery for examples of the varied types of work I have undertaken and that could be reproduced to order.

Projects and Clients

I feel privileged to have been invited to work on some exciting and prestigious projects over the years. These include a commission by The National Assembly for Wales of an illuminated poem, composed by the National Poet of Wales, and presented to HM The Queen at the official opening of The Senedd, Cardiff in 2006; also an illuminated address for Bristol's QEH School that was presented to The Queen in celebration of her 80th birthday. Other official scrolls include an Honorary Freedom of the Town to Olympic Silver Medalist swimmer David Davies and a Friendship Pact between Kinsale and Barry town councils, both commissioned by Barry Town Council.
